- Messaging and copy Plain words that sound like you.
- Structure and design Shaped around your business, not a template.
- Built for phones first Easy to use on any screen.
- Direct contact routes Call, message or a short form.
- Accessibility and checks Tested properly before launch.
- Only the extras that earn their place Nothing added for show.

Useful reading. No signup. What a Google Business Profile actually does for a trade
Business Profiles help businesses appear in Maps and local Search. Your website still carries the fuller story.
Choose a part of the profile.
It puts you on the map
Search for a local trade and Google often shows a map with nearby businesses. Those listings come from Business Profiles, not from websites alone.
A Business Profile is free. Google says local results are based mainly on relevance, distance and prominence. A complete, accurate profile can help with relevance and prominence, but nobody can promise a top spot.
It makes contact immediate
A profile can show a call button, message route or other action before someone ever reaches your website.
That is useful when someone is comparing options quickly on a phone. Your website still matters for depth, but the profile can start the conversation.
It shows what customers say
Reviews can appear beside your business name and help people understand what you are like to deal with.
Sample ratings on this page are illustrative only. Genuine reviews describing real work are more useful than invented praise.
It shows your work in context
Photos help people picture the business, the team or the kind of jobs you take on.
Use real images where you can. They do not replace a proper website gallery, but they add quick visual context in search and maps.
It answers practical questions
Opening hours, service area and basic business details reduce uncertainty before someone gets in touch.
Keep these details current. Out-of-date hours or areas create friction and can conflict with information elsewhere online.
It can lead to your website
A profile can link through to the fuller story on your site: services, examples, process and the detail people need to choose you with confidence.
Business Profiles help businesses appear in Maps and local Search. Websites provide deeper information and support the wider online presence.

Based on current Google guidance: Manage your Business Profile. Creating a profile does not guarantee visibility or rankings.
Try it. No signup. AI assistants decide which businesses to recommend. Is yours up on that list?
When someone asks an AI assistant for a local business, clear, accessible information gives it more to work with. Make what you do, where you work and how to contact you easy to establish.
Conflicting information can make a business harder to identify and verify. This is an educational interaction — it is not checking your business or querying a live assistant.
Can you recommend a reliable electrician near me for a full rewire?
I could not find enough reliable information to recommend a specific electrician. You could check reviews on a map app or look for businesses with clear service details online.
What the available information establishes
- Very little yet.
What remains missing or needs checking
- Clear services and service area
- Consistent business name and contact details
- Genuine reviews describing the work
- Relevant mentions on other websites
- A complete Business Profile where relevant
- Appropriate structured data describing visible page content
Platform guidance changes often. OpenAI crawlers, Claude web search, Google AI search guidance. Structured data can help software understand visible page content, but it is not a universal requirement for recommendation.
Looked after, if you’d like.
Care is optional. Some businesses want a hand keeping everything current; others would rather take the keys and run. Either is fine.
What care covers
- UpdatesWords, hours, prices and details
- New workPhotos, services and examples
- ImprovementsSmall changes as customers ask
- ChecksForms, links and contact routes
- SearchSearch details and Business Profile kept current
- Launch Site live. Every page, form and link checked on phone and desktop.
- Spring New photos added from recent jobs.
- Summer Second service added, with its own section.
- Winter Holiday opening hours updated on the site and profile.
- Ongoing Contact routes, search details and security updates checked.
Two ways to carry on
Know what you want?
Rather just have a chat?
Tell me a little about your business and what you’re after. I’ll reply by email or set up a call.
Prefer to read first?
See how it works.
How we’d work together, who owns what, and the usual questions.

Understand first.
Then build.
A few things you can count on, whatever we end up making.
-
Sometimes a tidy-up or a proper Business Profile will do more good. You’ll hear that first.
-
No made-up reviews or claims, and no extras you don’t actually need. If it doesn’t help your customers, it doesn’t go on the site.
-
No preset packages. Scope and price come after we’ve talked about what you actually need.
-
No hand-offs to people you’ve never met. You deal with James from first chat to launch.
Step by step
How we’ll work together.
Five stages, from first contact to launch and beyond.
-
- What happens
- We talk about your business, your customers and what the site needs to do.
- Your part
- What work do you want to become the obvious choice for? What are your values that you want people to see?
-
- What happens
- I shape the words, structure and design, then build it properly.
- Your part
- Send any photos, details or examples you have. Rough is fine.
-
- What happens
- You see the real site, share your feedback, and we refine it together.
- Your part
- Say what feels right and what doesn’t.
-
- What happens
- We put the website live and check that everything works.
- Your part
- Tell a few customers where to find you.
-
- What happens
- Optional support to keep your site up to date as things change.
- Your part
- Let me know when something changes.
Ownership
We build the site.
You own the site.
When the job’s done, you get the keys.
Your website, domain, content and key accounts stay in your name wherever practical. There’s no artificial lock-in, so if you ever want to move on, everything comes with you.
- Your domain In your name, not mine, wherever practical.
- Your website Built for you to keep.
- Your words and photos Yours to reuse wherever you like.
- Your key accounts Business Profile and the rest, in your name.
Questions
The things people usually ask.
Something else on your mind? Ask me directly. There are no silly questions about websites.
How much does a website cost?
It depends on what your business actually needs, so there’s no price list or preset package. Scope and price follow a conversation, and you’ll know both before any work begins.
How many pages will I need?
Usually one to three. Enough to say what you do, show it properly and make contact easy. Extra pages only earn a place when they have a clear job to do.
Do I need all three services?
No. Many businesses start with a website and add the rest later; some only need one. We’ll work out what’s actually useful for you.
Can you help if I already have a website?
Often, yes. Search and local visibility and ongoing care can both work with a site you already have. I’ll look at your current setup first and tell you honestly what it allows.
Do I need to be good with technology?
Not at all. You know your business; I’ll handle the website side and explain anything that matters in plain English along the way.
Can you get me to the top of Google?
Nobody can honestly promise that. What I can do is build the foundations that help: clear services, consistent business details, a well-structured site and, where it’s useful, a complete Business Profile.

For many local trades it’s worth having. It’s free, and it helps businesses appear in Maps and local Search. Whether it’s right for you depends on how you work, so we’ll talk it through.
I don’t have a website yet. Is that a problem?
Not at all; it’s a good place to start. We’ll begin with what you do and who you want to reach.
