James Finney Studio, operated by James Finney, is based in South Africa. I’m responsible for how your personal information is used.

When you contact me

I collect your name, your enquiry and the email address or phone number needed to get back to you. Your business name, website and additional message are optional. The form also records which page you contacted me from.

I use these details to respond to your enquiry, discuss the help you need and prepare a proposal if you ask for one. Submitting an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing.

Providing information is your choice. The form requires your name and your chosen contact detail so I can reply; other fields are optional. No law requires you to supply these enquiry details.

Where UK data protection law applies, I rely on steps you request before entering a contract with me, or my legitimate interest in responding to general and business enquiries.

Where your details go

I use Wix to store form submissions and Zoho Mail to receive and manage enquiry emails. These providers and their service providers process information to deliver their services. If you choose WhatsApp, its service also processes your messages.

I may disclose information where legally required or necessary for legal claims.

I handle enquiries in South Africa, and providers may process information in other countries. Wix and Zoho may process information outside South Africa, including in the United States. These providers protect information under their own data processing terms, including contractual safeguards where the law requires them. Contact me for more detail.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiries that do not become client work for 12 months after our last meaningful contact, then delete them unless a legal obligation or dispute requires longer retention.

If we work together, relevant financial and tax records are kept for five years after the end of the relevant tax year, as tax law requires, and project files and correspondence for three years after the project ends.

Your rights

You can ask to access or correct your information. Depending on applicable law, you may also request deletion, restriction of use or a portable copy.

You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where I rely on consent, you can withdraw it.

Website technology

This site runs on Wix. Wix and its security provider Cloudflare use essential cookies to keep the site secure, maintain your session and measure basic site performance. Wix also processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you visit in order to deliver and protect the site. I don’t use advertising cookies.
